Kangaroo Mathematics
What is Kangaroo Mathematics?
A mathematical multiple-choice competition for around 6 million participants in over 60 countries worldwide. The competition takes place once a year on the third Thursday in March in all participating countries at the same time and is written as a voluntary competition at the schools, under teacher supervision.
The purpose of this event is to support mathematical education in schools, to awaken and strengthen the enjoyment of mathematics, and to promote independent work and teaching in the classroom by offering interesting tasks.
It is an individual competition in which 24 tasks in grades 3/4 and 5/6 respectively each 30 tasks in grades 7/8, 9/10 and 11-13 are to be solved in 75 minutes.
The competition traditionally takes place on the 3rd Thursday in March.
The Kangaroo Maths competition is organized by ESK teachers annually but the ESK PA is proud to support the registration fees for the Primary school participants each school year.
